Job Description

STATEMENT OF THE JOB:

 The role of Art Director is responsible for producing all elements and components of product design with practical creativity. Must be able to collaborate with editorial staff in creating feature layouts. Demonstrates the ability to design autonomously as well as function as part of team in order to produce high quality products. Skill set must include sophisticated sense of typography, photo editing skills, page design and ability to tell a story through words and pictures. Manages workflow as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be very experienced with the Adobe CS, multiple versions.
  • At least a four-year degree in design, art, journalism, related field or life experience.
  • At least 4 years of consumer/trade/custom magazine or similar experience.
  • Solid working knowledge of publishing workflows and pre-press processes.
  • Sophisticated sensibility in application of imagery and process color to editorial page.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of design trends.
  • Highly organized, proactive, detail oriented with ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Deadline and project oriented.
  • Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, must be able to understand and utilize tact and persuasiveness while interacting with internal as well as external customers.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with Publishing Services leadership and design staff to conceptualize, design and produce all elements of MVP products including but not exclusive to maps, Where Magazine, Quick Guides and Guestbooks.
  • Participate in book building process from concept through printed product.
  • Responsible and accountable for correctness and completeness of final products while adhering to schedules and deadlines.
  • Recommend methods to streamline and improve production/design processes.
  • Facilitate the success of the team by being actively leader in problem solving and quality improvement.
  • Be familiar with primary responsibilities of other team members and assist them when necessary.
  • Monitor and stay current with all products produced by the team.
  • Stay current on new software and technological advancements.

Primarily seated at a desk using a computer in an air-conditioned office.

Must be able to work in a drug-free, smoke-free environment. Occasional night or weekend work.

Job Description

Job Description: The Assistant Photo Editor works closely with the Chief Creative Officer (CCO) to fulfill photography needs for our custom publications. At the direction of the CCO, the Assistant Photo Editor sources a variety of images, from fashion to travel to lifestyle and more. The Assistant Photo Editor manages the custom photo database and negotiates contracts with photo agencies and freelance photographers. This full-time, hourly position is based in our headquarters office in Augusta, Georgia.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum two years’ experience editing photography for print and digital publications
  • Bachelor’s or associate degree in photography or related discipline preferred
  • Strong portfolio
  • Creative and conceptual thinker with a sophisticated eye and strong visual point of view
  • Fashion photography/fashion product photography experience a plus
  • An interest in travel and worldwide destinations
  • Highly computer literate, including hands-on experience in Adobe Bridge, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, Google Drive, InDesign/InCopy
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Ability to take direction remotely from CCO based in Los Angeles
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines on multiple projects
  • Ability to multitask and manage several assignments simultaneously
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to handle custom clients with tact and diplomacy

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide photographic support to CCO for custom publications
  • Be in constant communication with CCO, editors, art directors, and production staff at every stage of production, from concept to publication
  • Gather photography from various sources, including custom clients, stock agencies, freelance photographers, retailers, manufacturers and others
  • Gather products (primarily fashion) from retailers, photograph the products and return items to retailer
  • Conduct basic negotiations with photographers, stock houses, model agencies, etc.
  • Attend photo shoots as needed
  • Utilize imaging software for basic photo toning/color correction
  • Ensure adherence to deadlines
  • Ensure that photos selected are current and accurately depict the subject/contents
  • Create and manage photo database for custom publications
  • Ensure accuracy of photo credits and captions

The Agriculture Supervisor is responsible for managing the garden, yards around the houses and flowers and function in a professional and knowledgeable manner.   This position directs and oversees the daily duties of two employees as well as assists in the kitchen and house during onsite events and during peak times.  The position is located in Martin, SC.

Job Description

Essential Functions

  1. Supervises, assign duties and work schedules of two employees
  2. Inspects garden and yard to determine conditions and need for cultivating, spraying, weeding, cutting, planting or harvesting.
  3. Assists with planting and harvesting operations.
  4. Assists in land preparation, planting, irrigation, fertilization, pest and disease management.
  5. Operates equipment, i.e., zero turn mowers, weed eaters, hedge trimers
  6. Directs or assists in adjustment, repair and maintenance of equipment.
  7. Continually monitors and evaluates the efficiency of operations, equipment and work practices
  8. Provide support for events on site or during peak times in the lodge and kitchen to include serving guests, assistance with meal preparation and other services as needed.

Education/Skills Requirements

Organizational skills; Knowledge of production equipment; Microsoft Office; Driver’s License.

Work Environment

This position operates in an outdoor environment.  This role routinely uses standard farm equipment such as trucks, zero turn mowers, weed eaters, hedge trimers, etc.  Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is routinely required to work in all weather conditions.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance and exposed to pollutants, gasses, dust fumes, odors and poor ventilation.  Also, the employee will be exposed to loud noises.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
