Duties:

  • Collaborate with a team to create a plan for original digital content in addition to executing long-term and short-term digital engagement strategies that increase brand awareness, generate inbound traffic and develop audience
  • Source, curate, create, edit and manage all written and visual digital content (examples include graphs, polls, charts and infographics) as needed to develop audience
  • Maintain content inventory and be abreast of tag-mapping requirements

STATEMENT OF THE JOB:  The Associate Editor serves a vital function on the editorial team by helping the Editor-in-Chief conceptualize, manage and execute the editorial brand for the family of Savannah magazine lifestyle publications, including the bimonthly Savannah magazine, the tri-annual Savannah HOMES magazine, the annual Southern Coastal Weddings magazine, and their allied digital assets. Content management 

  1. Develop and maintain content for savannahmagazine.com and southerncoastalweddings.com. Content should expand upon the print products and include original articles and multimedia products to bring the pages of the magazine to life.
  2. Develop partnerships with other businesses, organizations and media outlets to provide additional original content, to maximize our resources and to extend our reach and profile.

  3. Serve as an editorial liaison to the community, filtering content feedback and delivering brand messages via social media.

 Special events and promotion

STATEMENT OF THE JOB: As part of the MMN corporate staff, this position will serve an internal business service role to the Director of Finance & Operations.  The position will work with the Corporate Circulation group and manage the business functions for the assigned area (financial analysis, budgeting, financial compliance, billing, and accounts payable).  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists in the preparation of annual budget as directed
  • Prepares and distributes monthly and other periodic financial and administrative reports
  • Prepares detailed and summary analysis reports
  • Works as a point of contact for financial inquiries
  • Prepares journal entries and monthly closing documents
  • Prepares and monitors budgets
  • Participates in ensuring financial reporting compliance within company policy and procedures
  • Acts as an advocate/liaison between the field and corporate
  • Analyze publications circulation efforts for profitability and collaborate with field and corporate on a course of action
  • Ongoing analysis of expenses to ensure goals and objectives are being met and expenses are being contained as needed
  • Assists with the monthly closing process ensuring all revenue and expenses for the individual titles have been properly accounted for
  • Ensures expenses have been coded and submitted for payment and/or accrual by corporate accounting in a timely manner
  • Monitors deviations from the budget at month end and follows-up
  • Performs various administrative duties
  • Analyzes ongoing operations providing forecasts to local and corporate management to ensure department cash flow and readership goals are met
  • Create, Manage and analyze direct mail campaigns
  • File semi-annual Alliance for Audited Media (AAM) publisher statements
  • File Statement of Ownership with USPS
  • Manage multiple print orders

 EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: 

  • The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field.  One to two years of experience in Magazine Circulation is required.
  • Must possess excellent analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Must be able to multi-task and to work independently
  • Must have knowledge of accounting and circulation functions
  • Must have the ability to use a personal computer and Microsoft Office applications with proficiency in Excel
  • SAP or other Integrated Financial System experience helpful
  • Must work well with others since this position is highly visible and has frequent face-to-face and telephone contact
  • Must have strong interpersonal and diplomacy skills in order to build effective relationships with customers, managers and employees that support the organization
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal skills
  • Must possess the ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner
